A classic Aviation recast around Amuerte Blue Gin, with its coca leaf and Andean botanical depth anchoring the drink's silvery profile. Crème de Violette and Luxardo Maraschino give the cocktail its signature floral-cherry softness, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao adds a dry citrus lift, and generous fresh lemon keeps the whole composition taut. Ingredients
Per Cocktail
- 30 ml Amuerte Blue Gin
- 10 ml The Bitter Truth Crème de Violette
- 10 ml Luxardo Maraschino
- 15 ml Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao
- 35 ml Fresh lemon juice

Method
Build the Cocktail
- Chill the coupette by filling it with crushed ice while you prepare the drink
- Wash the lemons thoroughly before use
- Squeeze the lemons and pass the juice through a fine sieve
- Combine all ingredients in a tin-on-tin shaker
- Shake with ice cubes until the cocktail is ice-cold and properly diluted
- Remove the crushed ice from the pre-chilled coupette
- Fine-strain into the pre-chilled cocktail glass
- Float a single violet flower on the surface
The Aviation lives or dies on its colour — a pale, almost silvery mauve. Measure the Crème de Violette with restraint; a heavy hand tips the drink into purple and turns it cloying. Always pre-chill the glass with crushed ice, and only empty it seconds before you strain — a room-temperature coupette will ruin both the texture and the colour in under a minute.
